Parador de Calahorra > Hotel Parador in Spain

Relaxing ambience of the Rioja

The Parador, built using red bricks, strikes a wonderful contrast with the clear waters of the river Ebro and the Cidacos Valley. The garden, thick with vegetation and full of flowers and palm trees, is part of one of the most important historical and artistic buildings in La Rioja.

The ancient Calagurris is of roman origin, and its cathedral is its most famous building. The building's features include huge doorways, windows and blinds with smooth interior lines and obvious medieval decorative influences. The conference suites are spacious with modern and functional facilities.

The Riojan cuisine is based on the quality of the ingredients produced in the region. Its specialities include, vegetable stew, pochas (haricot bean stew), lamb chops with peppers, and pears or peaches cooked in wine.

Parador de Lerma > Hotel Parador In Spain

Ducal Palace of Lerma

The Ducal Palace is located in the highest part of the town of Lerma. It was constructed taking advantage of the site of a 15th century castle and was implemented according to the plans of the architect Francisco de Mora in successive phases between the years 1601 and 1617. The palace was commissioned by the order of the first Duke of Lerma, Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas for the accommodation, rest and general enjoyment of his master, King Philip III.

This hotel has a central courtyard surrounded by columned galleries in alternating sections: the first has twenty Tuscan columns with semicircular arches, and the second has twenty Ionic columns.

After its restoration the Palace has now been converted into a Parador with 70 rooms and a capacity of 133 beds.

Parador de Olite > Hotel Parador in Spain

15th Century castle and palace

The hotel occupies part of a majestic palace-castle that dates back to the 15th Century and has been declared a National Monument. The communal areas and some of the bedrooms are within the palace-castle itself, and the remaining rooms are housed in an annex building.

Its stone walls enclose a multitude of features that enhance the Medieval atmosphere of the building. Stained glass windows, archways and other typically Medieval elements can still be seen today inside and on the facade of the palace-castle.

The brick columns and arches in the restaurant area provide an excellent setting to enjoy local produce such as asparagus from Navarre, piquillo peppers, lamb al chilindrón (cooked with tomatoes and peppers) and cod ajoarriero (with garlic and peppers).
